The shot
A stunt performer runs the length of a stage platform, clears a 2.5 meter gap, rolls on landing and looks back. That is the plate. In the final he makes the same jump between two skyscraper rooftops at sunset, with the avenue forty floors below.
How it was made
The plate was generated as flat, ungraded footage, the way it would come off a cinema camera on a real stunt day. A matching rooftop plate was then built from the same eye line, and the performance was transferred onto it. The camera move, the timing and every beat of the jump are untouched, frame for frame.
